Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is regularly compared to Thierry Henry.

Newcastle’s most expensive signing is similar in style to the Arsenal legend, gliding past players with ease thanks to his elegant touch and untouchable speed.

In front of goal, there were not many better than Thierry Henry. He is Arsenal’s all-time leading scorer with 228.

For Newcastle United, Alexander Isak has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances. 27 of them came this season, as the Sweden international enjoyed the best campaign of his career.

He has been irresistible in black and white, with Henry recently praising Isak for how calm he is even when he makes a mistake.

Thierry Henry makes Alexander Isak claim

The Frenchman has now spoken about Isak again, having appeared on the latest episode of the Stick To Football podcast on the Overlap YouTube channel.

During the interview, Henry spoke about Arsenal needing to sign a striker.

In response, Jill Scott said: “People say about Isak, but surely if Newcastle get Champions League then do you think he leaves?”

Henry responded: “That would be a tough one. He is a great player, by the way. Oof.”

How Newcastle United feel about Alexander Isak contract talks

With the Premier League season over and Champions League qualification confirmed, Newcastle United will soon turn their attention towards sorting out Isak’s contract.

Newcastle have told Isak he is not leaving this summer, and intend to offer him a new deal.

Alan Shearer is adamant that Isak will not be sold, but that could largely depend on how contract talks go between the club and the striker’s representatives.

It has been reported that Newcastle are confident Isak will sign a new deal, as they prepare to make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Alexander Isak injury update

Ahead of Newcastle’s final game of the season against Everton, there were concerns surrounding Isak’s fitness.

He had missed the previous game with a groin issue, while it had been suggested that Isak could undergo surgery in the summer.

The forward was passed fit to face the Toffees and was even able to play the full 90 minutes.

However, Isak is still seemingly feeling the effects of that groin problem. It has been confirmed that he has pulled out of the Sweden squad for their upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Algeria in June.
