Anthony Gordon is officially a Newcastle United player, and fans have now been given a glimpse into the winger’s first meeting with Toon boss Eddie Howe.

After a £45million fee was agreed with Everton on Friday, the 21-year-old arrived on Tyneside on Saturday to undergo his medical and media duties.

The deal was then announced on Sunday, with Gordon officially becoming Newcastle’s second most expensive signing.

Fans were treated to an interview with the new recruit, as well as a plethora of pictures from his first day at the club.

Now a video has been published on Newcastle’s official YouTube channel, providing more insight on Gordon’s first interactions with his new coaches and teammates.

Eddie Howe a ‘huge admirer’ of Anthony Gordon

In the video, Gordon is seen meeting his new manager for the first time, alongside Howe’s coaching staff. Gordon admits that properly sitting down with Howe has been ‘years in the making’, which prompted the following response from the ex-Bournemouth chief.

Howe told Gordon: “I’ve been a huge admirer of you for a long time. Ever since you first burst onto the scene really.”

The manager’s praise sums up why he has brought Gordon to St James’ Park. He is a huge fan of the forward, and clearly sees a lot of potential in him. Hopefully he realises that potential in a black and white shirt, with his debut possibly coming on Saturday in the Premier League clash with West Ham.

As well as meeting Howe, Gordon was also introduced to the Newcastle players – some of which he has been involved in altercations with over the past 12 months.

In the video, assistant manager Jason Tindall can be seen introducing Gordon to the entire squad, the first of which is Kieran Trippier.

Tindall tells Trippier: “He [Gordon] says he wants to finish off that fight with you.”

The video then shows Gordon meeting Fabian Schar – another player who he clashed with at St James’ Park back in October.

Tindall tells Gordon that Schar doesn’t often get angry, but when he does… to which Schar says he was ‘just protecting the boys’.

Gordon replies that he hopes the Swiss defender will protect him now, to which Schar says ‘you will have to deserve it first’.

Seeing Gordon’s first interactions with his new teammates is excellent, especially given the history. The previous aggro has made Gordon a polarising figure on Tyneside, but he will quickly become a hero if he impresses for his new club.
