Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has suggested he was impressed with midfielder Joe Willock against Arsenal last night.
The Gunners were left frustrated with the Magpies’ superb defence as Eddie Howe’s side held their own in a gritty stalemate.
Whilst the Dutch centre-back received the headlines, the 22-year-old took to social media to hail his midfield teammate.

Having come through the academy at Arsenal, Willock shared a post on Instagram after the game.
Highlighting his allegiance to the Toon, the 23-year-old wished Mikel Arteta’s side well for the remainder of the season.
Taking to the comments, Botman sent Willock a word-less reply, using two flame emojis to indicate just how impressed he was with his teammate’s performance.
Botman impressed by Willock
Whilst there are numerous players receiving plaudits for Newcastle’s success this term, one player who has been underrated by the media is Willock.
The midfielder has played 18 Premier League games for the Toon this season, during which he has contributed two goals and two assists.
Although the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton have been lauded for their contributions in the middle of the park, the youngster’s smooth transition as the side’s third midfielder has been equally as impressive.

Despite this, the Magpies are said to be looking for a new midfielder to add to Eddie Howe’s squad. Whilst depth is needed at a Champions League battling team, Willock could end up losing his spot in the XI.
This would be somewhat unfair, as the former Gunner has proven himself for the Toon this season. He has definitely done what has been asked of him by the manager.
Newcastle should still look to bring in a midfield addition, but this shouldn’t necessarily be at the expense of the 23-year-old – who is improving week-in, week-out under Howe.
