Newcastle boss Steve Bruce comments on Cristiano Ronaldo possibly joining Manchester City

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce believes it would be ‘great’ if Cristiano Ronaldo joins Manchester City.

One of the greatest players in the history of the game is reportedly on the brink of a move.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester City are in talks with Juventus about Ronaldo, who no longer wants to play for the Turin giants.

It would be a huge signing for Pep Guardiola, who is looking for an alternative forward after Harry Kane decided he is staying at Tottenham.

Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Southampton, Bruce has been questioned by the media.

Despite the Magpies’ woeful start to the season, the Toon boss has instead been answering questions on more pressing matters – Ronaldo’s potential return to England.

“Great for the Premier League I have to say,” Bruce told Sky Sports.

“It would be wonderful if he [Ronaldo] comes back, but we can only just look on, all of us, and think ‘what if’.”

Cristiano Ronaldo possibly joining Manchester City has nothing to do with Newcastle

As a neutral, it will be exciting to see Ronaldo back in the Premier League. But as a Newcastle fan, who cares?

I’m not interested in what Bruce thinks about one of the elite’s transfer business. I want to know what we’re going to do.

I want to know why we’ve still only signed one player this summer. Why do we seemingly have no money to spare? Why did the manager take pride in the fact we didn’t lose in 90 minutes against Burnley on Wednesday night?

There are a lot more pressing issues at Newcastle right now than Ronaldo. Unless he’s coming to sign for the Toon, what’s it got to do with us?

It will only become relevant on December 18th, when the Magpies take on Manchester City at St James’ Park.

Seeing Ronaldo live could be an early Christmas present for some supporters. Although there might not be much to celebrate by then if our early season form continues.
