Two Newcastle United players have posted photos on social media as they hope to make a return from injury very soon.

Newcastle have suffered some of the worst luck when it comes to injuries this season, the latest being Joelinton, with the team at one point having a full starting 11 of first-team players in every position who were unavailable.

There may soon be some good news, however, as both Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes have today posted on Instagram with images of them in football boots preparing for a return to the team.

Newcastle’s injury crisis could soon resolve

Having been knocked out of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup in December, Newcastle could really do with getting their players back to full fitness for the second half of the season.

There’s still European spots up for grabs and while they have lost their last four Premier League games, Newcastle remain just six points off of West Ham in sixth, so still a lot to play for.

However, they cannot hope to have any kind of success if they once again find themselves with a stretched squad like they were over a month ago when the same starting 11 played twice a week.

Having Barnes and Willock back into the team will be absolutely huge especially after the Aston Villa game next week when the fixture list starts to look kinder and Newcastle will hope to go on a bit of run.

On Barnes’ story he posted himself in boots with a battery charging emoji while Willock had a similar image with the caption: “Step by step.”

Newcastle will look to recapture last season’s success

Although some have already written this season off due to some early disappointments and injury news, Newcastle have a chance to repeat the successes they enjoyed last year.

As previously mentioned qualifying for Europe is still very much up for grabs, though top four looks out of reach, and there may be another trip to Wembley on the cards should they beat Fulham this Saturday in the FA Cup.

Newcastle will also be returning to playing just one game a week like they were last season, so there should hopefully be no reason for so much fatigue to set into the squad like in the first few months.

It will be a big end to the season and whatever they achieve will impact the summer business they do, which is also very likely to be a very busy few months.
