‘Spectacular’… £12m player who Newcastle want to sign now tipped to have limitless potential

Estudiantes star Benjamin Rollheiser has been tipped to have a very bright future as Newcastle United continue their pursuit of the attacker.

Newcastle are believed to have held interest in the 23-year-old for the past few months and are hopeful that a deal can still be made in the January window.

Former Estudiantes President Enrique Lombardi spoke to A Bola about how the club were aware of interest in Rollheiser from Benfica and Newcastle and claimed he didn’t quite know what his limit was.

No contact has been made yet between Newcastle and Estudiantes

Recent reports have suggested that Newcastle are very interested in adding Rollheiser to their ranks, but they have only admired him from afar.

No official bid for Rollheiser has been made yet by any club, with Benfica also keeping a close eye on the young man’s situation at Estudiantes alongside Newcastle.

It was previously thought that a fee of £12m should be enough to attain the winger’s services. However, it’s not so clear if the Argentinian club still remain firm on the price tag set a few months ago.

If there is serious interest in bringing the player to Tyneside, Newcastle will soon have to step up their progress in making a deal, though recent injuries may have caused recruits to rethink their January transfer strategy.

Speaking to A Bola, Lombardi said: “He’s a spectacular kid. He’s an ace! I don’t know what his limit is. Great player. I also heard here about interest from Benfica and Newcastle. But now, what I know is from the press.”

Newcastle want more young talent in their ranks

Newcastle have made attracting young talent a big focus of their transfer strategy, bringing in Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon in the last 12 months who were all 21 or younger.

It’s worked out for them so far with Eddie Howe developing a young core who could stay at the club for the next 10 years if things go to plan.

Born in 2000, Rollheiser has risen through the ranks at both Estudiantes and River Plate as well as playing for Argentina’s Under-23s, but the winger is now ready to make his big move to Europe with Newcastle watching over him.

The Magpies may already have a fair bit of depth out wide, but Rollheiser has been a more clinical attacker from the right and could add some strong competition for Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy who few would describe as being lethal finishers.
