Newcastle fans have been looking ahead to this weekend’s game with Burnley – and some have suggested Joelinton should play in midfield.

Described as a must-win game, Newcastle could only draw 0-0 at St. James’ Park.

But it was seen as a decent result in the end after Ciaran Clark got sent off inside 10 minutes.

The 10 other players all worked their socks off, and actually almost secured three points but for a stunning Teemu Pukki equaliser.

Arguably, Newcastle’s star man was Brazilian star Joelinton.

Where many of his teammates have struggled, the South American has put in some really good displays this season.

And since Eddie Howe came in, the former Hoffenheim ace has improved further.

A lot has been said about Joelinton since his move to the club in 2019.

It seems he isn’t really an out-and-out striker as was first thought.

And with his latest outing, perhaps a new position beckons for the 25-year-old.

Some Newcastle fans want to see Joelinton back in midfield against Burnley

Shelvey at the base, and Willock and Joelinton operating as the two workhorses in midfield might not be the worst idea.

That would then allow Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser to play on the wings, with Callum Wilson through the middle.
