Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, and his nearest rival is Harry Kane.
That is why talk of Kane leaving England and signing for Bayern Munich was so good for Shearer. It would keep him at the top of the pile for a lot longer.
Reports of Tottenham Hotspur accepting Bayern’s £86million offer for Kane was music to Shearer‘s ears. However, it now looks like the music has stopped and that the 30-year-old might not be going anywhere after all.
Harry Kane likely to stay at Tottenham
When news broke of Spurs accepting a bid for Kane, it was stated that the decision was now with the player. He needed to decide if he wanted to go to Bayern and win silverware, or stay at Tottenham and continue his quest to become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer.
Now an update on Sky Sports suggests that he is leaning towards the latter.

Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour has stated that it is now increasingly likely that Kane snubs a move to Bayern and decides to stay in North London.
He said: “What I’ve been told this afternoon is that it is increasingly likely that Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham this season.”
That is excellent news for Tottenham fans, who will be heartbroken if Kane does leave this summer. He is their talisman, and often their only hope.
However, this development could have Alan Shearer sweating.
Alan Shearer’s Premier League record is under threat
With Kane now likely to stay at Tottenham, the chances of him overtaking Shearer and becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer go up.

Shearer is currently top of the pile with 260 goals. He is 47 clear of Kane, who has got 213. Given the gap, you have to imagine that the England captain is going to catch the Newcastle legend within the next two or three seasons, depending on how well he does.
That will disappoint Shearer, who has held the honour for a long time. You can win all the trophies you like, but there can be only one top scorer. The Match Of The Day pundit has been top of the tree for a long time, but that could soon change following news that Kane is now likely to stay at Spurs.
