Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly accepted an offer to sell Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, in a deal that could have a huge impact on a Newcastle United legend.

It has been claimed that Spurs have agreed to sell Kane to the Bundesliga giants for more than £86million, and have been sounding out potential replacements. One option is former Toon striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

It remains to be seen whether or not Kane will make the decision to join Bayern. The ball is very much in his court, with Spurs accepting the German side’s latest proposal.

On the one hand, joining Bayern would give him the chance to win the trophies that have alluded him during a spectacular career. Alternatively, leaving for the Bundesliga would end his hopes of becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer.

That is why Toon legend Alan Shearer is eager for him to say yes, as he is currently top of the pile with 260 goals to his name since the Premier League began in 1992.

Alan Shearer ‘ecstatic’ as Harry Kane nears Bayern Munich move

Following the news that Tottenham have accepted Bayern’s bid for Kane, Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker has given his reaction on Twitter. And he has also shared how his good friend Shearer is feeling.

He wrote: “Seems Harry Kane is on his way to Bayern. Clubs have agreed the fee. That would not have happened unless Harry wanted the move. Seems a Rest Is Football emergency podcast is on the cards with ecstatic Alan Shearer.”

Tough decision for Harry Kane

It is no surprise to read that Shearer is ecstatic. He previously stated that he would drive Kane to Munich himself!

The former Newcastle striker obviously wants to hold onto his record for as long as possible, and Kane is his nearest threat right now. He is 47 goals behind Shearer, meaning he would likely overtake him with another two or three seasons in the Premier League.

For Kane, it depends what he would rather be remembered for. Is he going to be the player who scored goals and won major trophies? Or is he going to be the undisputed leading goalscorer in Premier League history?

If his only option is stay at Spurs or join Bayern, it feels like it is one or the other. Alternatively, he could stay at Spurs and leave on a free next summer. That way he could continue to play in the Premier League, and join a team that is likely to win trophies.

But for Shearer, he obviously wants the England captain to say yes to Bayern.
