TalkSPORT host Simon Jordan has now revealed whether or not he thinks Eddie Howe can go on to win the FA Cup with Newcastle United this season.
Newcastle comfortably beat Sunderland this weekend to secure their place in the next round and will now face Fulham at the end of the month after the draw was made last night.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan claimed that he thinks Howe won’t be able to win the FA Cup because all of the big teams still remain in the competition.
Jordan says FA Cup winners don’t look like Eddie Howe
It would be a huge ask for Howe to win the cup this season given that Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham are all still fighting for it, but it’s Newcastle’s only hopes of silverware.
Had they managed to hold on against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, Newcastle could have been on the verge of making successive trips to Wembley, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
It’s been 69 years since the club last tasted domestic success and it’s fair to say that the fanbase are desperate to end this drought in the very near future.
Jordan, however, believes that the wait for a trophy will go on in the North East after suggesting that the managers left in the tournament, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, are just too good for Howe to compete with.
On the show, Jordan said: “I don’t think Eddie Howe can win an FA Cup this season because he’s got to overcome some of the obstacles with the biggest clubs that are in it.
“When you look at the managers that are in it, when you listen to Jurgen Klopp describe the game against Arsenal, you know why this team is where it is. You know what people who win titles look like, they look like Klopp and Guardiola, they don’t look like Eddie Howe.”

Newcastle need a cup run to boost confidence
Although they would have preferred a home tie, playing Fulham isn’t the worst fixture that they could have received and it means that a couple of the big teams will now knock each other out in the fourth round.
After a terrible run of games to end 2023, Newcastle could really use going on a run in the FA Cup to boss their confidence and morale. It may mean more fixtures, but winning teams tend to keep on winning.
With the semi-finals being held at Wembley it also gives the fans another opportunity to make the trip to the capital, something they have only enjoyed once in the last couple of decades.
There’s no real pressure on Howe to win the thing, with Jordan adding that he’s certainly not the favourite, but succeeding in it would be absolutely massive for the Newcastle fans who already adore the 46-year-old.
