Simon Jordan shares how much he truly believes Alexander Isak is ‘worth’ at Newcastle United

Newcastle United have found a huge talent in Alexander Isak.

The summer transfer window from 2022 will go down as one of Newcastle United’s best because of how well they recruited.

It was the window that saw Isak join Newcastle for a club record fee, and the likes of Nick Pope and Sven Botman arrive on Tyneside.

They are players who have become an integral part of Eddie Howe’s squads since joining and for good reason.

Pope is back from injury but has competition from Martin Dubravka over the number-one spot so has not made an appearance since his return. He will be in contention to start in Newcastle’s FA Cup tie against Birmingham City on Saturday, however.

Isak has transfer interest from Arsenal – Howe and sporting director are reluctant to let Isak leave for cheap though. The Magpies boss issued a ‘hands off’ warning to deter any interested parties.

While a transfer does not look like it is on the horizon, Simon Jordan has highlighted what it could take for Isak to leave Newcastle in the summer and how much he truly believes he is worth.

Simon Jordan on possible Alexander Isak Newcastle exit

Talk of Isak leaving Newcastle has persisted since the summer – Arsenal fans want Isak to be signed after seeing how good he was in the Magpies’ Carabao Cup win against the Gunners on Wednesday.

Newcastle are confident of keeping Isak and do not believe that anyone could fork out the money required to sign him. The 25-year-old still has over three years left on his current deal, but Newcastle will kick off fresh contract talks at the end of the season.

Former Crystal Palace owner and current TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan commented on Isak’s transfer interest and made an interesting point about what it could take to make him leave the club.

“There’s two factors to (how much clubs would pay),” he said.

“There’s the club that’s bidding for him and how complicit the player suddenly becomes in an interest of leaving Newcastle. That will alter the price point. If someone out of the ether that Isak really thinks is a better opportunity.

“In this day and age, Haaland was an outlier because there was a contractual release clause and they bought him for £55m. If they had to buy Haaland in an open market he’d have been north of £100m.

“Whilst I hate those numbers and don’t think anyone is worth that kind of money, by the metrics of what they’re paying these days, Isak is worth north of £100m.”

Simon Jordan compares Alexander Isak to Thierry Henry

There is no surprise that Isak gets comparisons to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry – the two players are almost identical stylistically. Like Henry, Isak loved playing with the ball at his feet and had such a keen eye for goal.

Joe Willock compared Isak to Henry after scoring a brace against Nottingham Forest in 2023. Then former Arsenal man Theo Walcott compared Isak to Henry and other Premier League legends for his performance against Forest a year later.

Jordan was asked about the comparison to Isak on the same TalkSPORT show.

He said: “He’s got that elegance, that’s what people associate with Henry. He’s got a long way to go to be in the same space as Henry but he is a player and he is going to become a really good player.

“He exudes class as a threat and he made those two Arsenal centre-backs have a really bad evening.”
