Simon Jordan reacts after Ryan Fraser is dropped from Newcastle first-team

When Ryan Fraser joined Newcastle United in 2020, Simon Jordan called him a ‘wretched individual’ and a ‘turd’.

Now it is 2023 and Fraser has been made to train with the Newcastle Under-21s by Eddie Howe, much to the delight of TalkSPORT pundit Jordan.

The winger arrived at St James’ Park in controversial circumstances a few years ago. He was a free agent signing, after his Bournemouth contract expired in the summer of 2020.

Fraser had gone a few months without a club, opting not to sign a short-term extension with the Cherries to finish the prolonged Premier League season which had been delayed by the pandemic.

The Scotland international’s decision to down tools and not fight to keep Bournemouth in the top flight did not go down well, with Jordan taking aim at him.

Now it looks like Fraser is set for an unharmonious exit from St James’ Park. He was rumoured to leave in January, but a move didn’t happen. Then it was reported by the Daily Mail that he was training with the Under-21s on the eve of the Carabao Cup final.

Howe has now confirmed the report, stating that he only wants players who are committed and did it for the benefit of the group.

Simon Jordan believes he was right all along about Ryan Fraser

Unsurprisingly, Jordan has had his say on the latest developments with Fraser on TalkSPORT, and appears to be revelling in the player’s demise.

“I was right about him, because I think he’s one of those players that you simply do not want in your dressing room if you want to achieve anything meaningful,” Jordan said.

He went on to add: “Eddie Howe has served him up. Or more to the point, he’s served himself up because he is what he is.

“Ultimately, when you’re in a situation like Newcastle where you want everybody focussing in the right direction, you’re in an irresistible place with massive enthusiasm – you don’t want a passenger.

“I would suggest to you that he [Fraser] probably does want to be part of it, but on his terms. Unfortunately, there’s a new sheriff in town. Eddie Howe wants it to be, as a manager should, his standards, his level of application, his level of expectance.

“He’s [Fraser] got to overcome the current scenario that he created and he probably hasn’t done enough. So he’s reaped what he’s sowed, and it’s quite nice to see it every now and again because most often or not you don’t see people get their comeuppance.”

Scathing from Simon Jordan

It feels cruel of Simon Jordan to take joy in the fact that Fraser has been dropped to the reserves. However, Bournemouth fans will be loving what he has said after the way the 29-year-old left them in the lurch back in 2020.

There appears to be no way back for Fraser at Newcastle, and his move to Tyneside has proven to be a bit of a disaster. Other than a purple patch at the beginning of 2022, he has majorly struggled in a black and white shirt.

A move away beckons this summer, and that is absolutely what is best for his career. Bournemouth ended turmoil, now Newcastle is going the same way. Where next for Ryan Fraser?
