Sheffield United are going to be without one of their most expensive signings ever against Newcastle United on Sunday.
Newcastle need to shift their focus from the Champions League to the Premier League. There was a lot of emotion surrounding the 0-0 draw with AC Milan, but now the Magpies must get back to business domestically.
The trip to Bramall Lane will be very challenging. Their fans will up for it, and will perhaps smell blood up against a tired Toon side that left everything on the pitch at the San Siro.
Sheffield United have played well at times since their return to the Premier League, but only have one point to show for it. However, they can be a dangerous side, as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur nearly found out. They both needed late goals to beat Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
The Blades will see this as a decent chance to get their first win, but they will have to do it without Oli McBurnie.
Oli McBurnie suspended for Sheffield United vs Newcastle
The £20million striker will be suspended for Sunday’s game against Newcastle United after being sent off in Sheffield United’s previous match.
McBurnie received two yellow cards during the defeat to Tottenham, with the second being given in stoppage time for dissent. It seemed very harsh, but it means that the Scotland international will miss Sunday’s game.
The 27-year-old has started the Blades’ last two matches alongside Cameron Archer, but Heckingbottom will now need to give his summer signing a new strike partner this weekend.
For Newcastle, it looks like the Magpies have no fresh injury concerns coming out of their Champions League draw with AC Milan. Joelinton and Joe Willock look set to miss out again, but other than that Howe will only be dealing with fatigue.
The Toon boss does not have any players suspended for the trip to Sheffield United, but he will be aware that Anthony Gordon is already one yellow card away from a suspension.
