Newcastle United are very committed to nurturing young talent.
The Magpies lost two young stars over the summer, with Newcastle United forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to ensure they complied with PSR. That was a massive blow.
But the club continues to look towards the future, with Newcastle set to sign Vakhtang Salia in 2025.
On top of that, Paul Mitchell is eager to bring more young stars to Newcastle United, with the sporting director looking to enhance Eddie Howe’s squad for years to come.
20-year-old Lewis Hall shining for Newcastle United

That is what the club did before Mitchell arrived, with Newcastle investing in their future and signing Lewis Hall from Chelsea. He arrived on loan, before the deal became permanent for £28million.
Eddie Howe thinks Hall will eventually prove to be a bargain, and he is well on course to do just that.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a remarkable season, establishing himself as a Newcastle United regular before winning his first ever England cap.
International recognition is a testament to how well Hall is playing, and he will hope to become a permanent fixture in the Three Lions side when Thomas Tuchel takes over in January 2025.
Shay Given picks Lewis Hall as the Premier League’s young player of the season so far
For that to happen, Hall will need to continue playing well in a Newcastle United shirt.
He has enjoyed a really strong start to the season, shining against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, nullifying superstars such as Bernardo Silva and Bukayo Saka. The left-back was particularly impressive in the 1-0 win over Arsenal, with Shearer describing Hall as ‘outstanding’.
And at 20-years-old, Newcastle United legend Shay Given believes that Hall is the Premier League’s best young player of the season so far.
For the official Premier League website, pundits have been asked to give out some awards after 11 games. Given and co have nominated a best player, best signing, best goal, best young player and most improved, with Hall the only Newcastle United player nominated for any accolade by the eight pundits involved.
That is quite a surprise, as Hall definitely deserves recognition for his improvement, considering the fact that Eddie Howe did not trust him at all this season.
But the Toon defender is certainly a contender for best young player, with the likes of Morgan Rogers and Liam Delap also named.
Hall is in good company. Delap has scored six Premier League goals for Ipswich Town this season, while Rogers is establishing himself as a key part of Unai Emery’s Aston Villa side. He also just made his England debut alongside Hall.
It is great to see Hall recognised for his excellent start to the 2024/25 season. It is just a shame that he has not received even more recognition, with Given the only Premier League pundit to give Hall his flowers.
