Newcastle United don’t have too many options to change things up after their poor run of form, but there’s one play in particular who must return to the team against Nottingham Forest.

Tino Livramento was dropped to the bench against Luton Town as Dan Burn stepped back into the left-back position where he was a regular before his injury.

But Newcastle missed the attacking threat of Livramento who had been ‘sensational‘ for Eddie Howe’s side during Burn’s absence in the team.

Livramento had to be patient before getting his chance in the team after signing from Southampton for £32m, but it’s been worth the wait after seeing just how brilliant the 21-year-old is overall.

Not only is he a great defender, Livramento also can provide attacking support similar to Kieran Trippier on the opposite flank and having both of them available against Forest could prove to be key.

Burn has been a very good servant for Newcastle but there does come a time when you have to bring in players of a higher quality an unfortunately that means the 31-year-old may have to play more of a backup role.

It’s not someone who you’d look to sell as he’s still a versatile defender and a great character to have, but most fans can see that Livramento just brings more to this Newcastle team.

Livramento can help turn Newcastle’s fortunes around

In the majority of games he’s played, Livramento has probably be one Newcastle’s standout players and can be the key to turning this bad run of form.

The defeat to Luton was a significant result for Howe who is starting to come under a little bit of pressure, though most of it comes from social media, and the manager needs to make some changes to find a solution to getting back to winning ways.

Forest is easily the most winnable fixture in the next stretch of Premier League games with trips to Liverpool and Aston Villa coming up along with a match against Manchester City all in January.

It can’t be all down to Livramento, but the young man can certainly inject some energy into the defence and going forwards with the team looking a bit stale and frustrated at the minute.
