Sandro Tonali is far from prolific, but he has scored some vitally important goals for Newcastle United.
No one will ever forget his strike on his Newcastle United debut against Aston Villa, while his goals played a key role in winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League last season.
Smart finishes against Manchester United and Chelsea towards the end of the season were absolutely pivotal, as Sandro Tonali enjoyed the best scoring season of his career with six goals.
However, the Italian midfielder does not consider either of those goals to be his best in the black and white of Newcastle United.

Sandro Tonali says Brentford strike is his best Newcastle United goal
Instead, Tonali has revealed that he believes his best ever Newcastle United goal so far was the winner he got against Brentford in the Premier League on 2nd April 2025.
The 25-year-old powered an effort beyond Mark Flekken from the most ridiculous angle. He was basically on the byline in position to put a cross in, yet his powerful strike found its way into the back of the net.
It was a ridiculous goal, and one that Tonali has told the Premier League’s YouTube channel is his best for the Magpies.
“I think this is my best goal,” he said.
“For the moment, for everything, for the difficulty in shooting. Every time I watch this goal, I think it’s crazy. So difficult. It was perfect.
“I don’t know why I was there [in that position] because I play in the six, but everything really was perfect timing.”

Sandro Tonali admits his best goal was a fluke
When Tonali scored that goal against Brentford, there was disbelief inside St James’ Park.
There was surely no way he was shooting, but the way he struck the ball perhaps suggested he knew what he was doing. And given how well he was playing at the time, there was no reason not to believe he meant it.
Tonali admitted it was a cross rather than a shot immediately after the game, and now the £55million man has reinforced that stance.
“It was a cross,” he said.
“But so powerful. If this cross went into the [right] area, it’s impossible to kick.”
No Newcastle United player would have been able to get on the end of Tonali’s supremely powerful cross, so luckily it was so wayward that it found its way into the Brentford net.
