Ryan Fraser has described his new Newcastle United teammate Kieran Trippier as a ‘monster‘.
Trippier was the first player to arrive at St James’ Park in January, costing £12million from Atletico Madrid. He was a statement signing, leaving Champions League football for a relegation battle.
But the England international has been an absolute class act ever since he signed on the dotted line. On and off the pitch, Trippier has raised standards.
He’s been exceptional at right-back, and produced his best performance yet in the 3-1 win over Everton on Tuesday night.
He even got himself a goal, netting a trademark free-kick to secure back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Trippier is making players better, and Fraser is a prime example of that.
The pair are dovetailing brilliantly down the right, and the former Bournemouth winger is playing his best football in a Newcastle shirt since his 2020 arrival.
After the win against Everton, Fraser spoke to the club’s official website and heaped praise on his new partner in crime.
“I’ve got to say, Kieran, since he’s come to the club, with me, everyone, he’s been unbelievable,” he told NUFC TV.
“Not just on the pitch. Obviously his performances have been top, top top.
“But off the pitch, I can’t praise him any higher. Small things, getting the lads’ morale up, making everyone better.
“Obviously I’ve been playing with him for a short time on the right, two smallest players on the field but I feel like I’m playing with a monster beside me. That’s what he brings.”
Trippier seems larger than life at St James’ Park. The way he has raised standards is sensational. His quality on the ball is exceptional, and it forces those around him to be better too.
The Trippier/Fraser combination down the right is excelling. They clearly trust each other, and Fraser can be safe in the knowledge that if he does something wrong, he has an elite defender backing him up.
Trippier’s impact has been instant. He’s had exactly the kind of effect Eddie Howe would’ve wanted.
If we do achieve Premier League survival, the signing of the ‘monster’ Kieran Trippier will be remembered as a pivotal moment.
