Reported Newcastle United target Ruben Loftus-Cheek put in a fantastic cameo against Juventus in the Champions League.

The midfielder started on the bench against the Italian giants on Tuesday.

But he was called into action in the first-half by Thomas Tuchel.

He replaced the injured N’Golo Kante, and the star really rose to the occasion at Stamford Bridge.

He got on the ball a lot and made several driving runs in midfield.

His pace, power and close control meant the Juventus players couldn’t really get near him.

Interestingly, Loftus-Cheek has actually completed more take-ons (12) than any other Chelsea player in the Champions League so far this season (Squawka)

The Evening Standard gave him an 8/10 for his display, saying he ‘weaved through the Juve defence to create Hudson-Odoi’s goal as his resurgence continued. Used the ball intelligently and looked to surge forward when possible, including for a late effort, which was well saved’.

It was an impressive showing and one that genuinely might make it hard for Newcastle to sign him in January.

The Magpies are supposedly keen on the 25-year-old.

Newcastle may find it difficult to sign Loftus-Cheek in January

Loftus-Cheek, who has 10 caps for England, might not be starting many games for Chelsea.

But he is getting minutes, and when he does take to the pitch, he looks really impressive.

Chelsea don’t really have anyone else like him, which may make them reluctant to let him go.

The way he burst forwards with the ball is fantastic to watch.

Newcastle supposedly want a creative midfielder. Loftus-Cheek would fall into that category, given his ability to break the lines, and he would be a fine addition if the club can pull it off.
