Newcastle United’s owners are very happy with Eddie Howe’s management of the club.
That’s according to reporter George Caulkin, who spoke about Howe’s start to life at St James’ Park on the latest episode of Athletic podcast ‘Pod On The Tyne‘.
Howe will be remembered as the first managerial appointment made by the new owners, officially replacing Steve Bruce on November 8th. He agreed a two-and-a-half year deal, and kicked off his tenure with a 3-3 draw against Brentford. Sadly, he missed the game due to a positive COVID test.
After a rough start that saw his side lose to Arsenal, Leicester, Manchester City and Liverpool, the Magpies have bounced back in 2022.

There have been low points – the FA Cup third round shock was incredibly embarrassing. But Howe is finally starting to put his stamp on the team, moving us out of the relegation zone last week with the win over Everton.
He’s won four games as Toon boss, and made it three triumphs on the spin on Sunday against Aston Villa. The last time Newcastle did that was November 2018 when Rafa Benitez was manager.
Things are clicking into gear for Howe, and the owners are happy with the man they chose to lead the club.

Owners see a bright future for Eddie Howe and Newcastle
“Yes, very very happy,” Caulkin said when asked if the owners are happy with Howe.
He added: “They see him as someone that they can build a long term vision of the club around. That’s great, but the problem with that is Newcastle have to get results in the short term. And now they’ve started doing that.”
Caulkin also added that the owners and Howe’s team have been working together closely, which is great to hear – especially when you consider the previous regime.

Howe coming into his own as Toon boss
The past few weeks have been pivotal for Howe. The wins over Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa have massively relieved the pressure.
Injuries to Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are a real blow, but our chances of Premier League survival look a lot better now than they did a month ago.
We’ve found a way to win games, and we’re looking much more solid at the back.

Since he was appointed, Newcastle have picked up 16 points. We only had three when Bruce left.
Howe is proving he is the man for the present, and will hopefully achieve Premier League survival. Long term, hopefully he’ll be the man to take us even further up the table.
The fans believe in him, and so do the owners.
