Reported Newcastle United transfer target Jonathan David continued his fine form at the weekend by scoring a brace for Lille against AS Monaco.
The forward helped himself to a couple of goals inside the first 10 minutes of the Ligue 1 clash on Friday.

His first was a penalty, sending Alexander Nubel the wrong way.
He then latched onto a fine through ball from Tiago Djalo, before confidently dispatching on his left foot.
It was a superb run from David, with a confident finish to boot.
Lille let their lead slip and ended up drawing 2-2, but it was yet another good day at the office for David, who is now the outright top goalscorer in Ligue 1 with 10.
David wasn’t actually involved all that much in the game.
But he did what he is on the pitch to do, and he’s been doing it all season.

The Guardian have run a piece on him today likening his style to that of Luis Suarez and Wissam Ben Yedder.
They explain that he is a player that has become transformed in recent times, and is someone that ‘uses possession intelligently’ and ‘his finishing has become much more considered’.
Le10 Sport claimed last week that Newcastle were considering a move for David.
He is seemingly someone that could make a real impact for struggling Newcastle.
David could be a great signing for Newcastle and partner for Wilson
Canada international David is becoming very difficult to ignore.
He has started off the 2021/22 season in electric form, and is surely going to become very coveted soon.

Newcastle need to sign another forward player as there isn’t much depth right now.
David has been used almost exclusively in a front two this term. That could mean there’s potential for him to strike up a nice partnership with Callum Wilson at St. James’ Park.
