Newcastle United remain interested in Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa. Planet Sport report that the Magpies are one of many clubs interested in the Brazilain.
Other Premier League sides including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also looking at the midfielder. There were multiple reports stating that Newcastle wanted Luiz in January. He signed for Villa back in 2019 and has become a mainstay in the midfield. Former Villa manager Dean Smith described him as ‘unbelievable’ (Birmingham Mail.)
Luiz’s contract runs out next summer, so perhaps Villa would look to cash in him this summer. That way they can make money which will likely be a profit on the £15 million (Sky Sports) they paid for him three years ago.

Newcastle have plenty of options in midfield and it doesn’t look like Eddie Howe wants to sell any of them
Whilst the report states that Newcastle remain interested in Luiz, we feel that it’s unlikely he will be signed.
Eddie Howe looks pretty content with the central midfielders they have. In January they signed Bruno Guimaraes, who has been outstanding for them.
Joelinton and Jonjo Shelvey have turned things around since Howe’s arrival. Meanwhile, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff (who’s enjoying life much more under Howe and signed a new deal) are well-liked by the Toon boss and have played well when called upon.

Unless one of those midfielders is moved on, I can’t see another central midfielder arriving on Tyneside this summer. It’s likely Newcastle wanted Luiz back in January and had him on their radar before signing Bruno.
There’s no doubt the Brazilian has established himself as a Premier League quality player. In addition, he’s one of Villa’s more underrated players. But a move to Newcastle doesn’t seem like it’ll happen.
Aston Villa will have other suitors after him. With Luiz’s contract up next year, they could get a pretty decent fee for him.
