Eddie Howe has received some positive news ahead of this weekend’s game with Liverpool as he welcomes back Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron to training, as reported by The Chronicle.
The Newcastle squad was in danger of becoming threadbare following the clash with Bournemouth which saw Howe losing three players to injury during the match with Joe Willock, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron all withdrawn after picking up knocks.

Saint-Maximin appeared to have suffered a bad knee injury following an awkward fall, while Almiron picked up a hand injury during the match. Thankfully, however, both players have returned to training this week and should be available for selection as the Magpies seek justice for their only league defeat of the season.
Strength in numbers
As well as the attacking due, Howe also welcomed back a couple of defensive reinforcements with Jamaal Lascelles and Javier Manquillo back in training.
Joe Willock was the biggest concern, departing the field with heavy strapping on his hamstring. He will definitely miss the clash with Liverpool and faces a battle to be ready for action in the Carabao Cup final at the end of the month.
With the return of Saint-Maximin and Almiron it opens up more attacking options available to Howe, especially with Callum Wilson’s latest injury concern.

Things are tightening up at the top
The game with Liverpool is important, not just from a revenge point of view, but also, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are pulling away from us in the table and now Tottenham are sneaking up behind us looking to take the coveted fourth spot.
After a run of draws, Newcastle are desperate for a win and getting one over on Liverpool would be the perfect way to kickstart our confidence ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
