Of all the joy last year’s takeover has brought supporters, the sight of Bruno Guimaraes clad in black and white is surely one the brightest spots. The Brazilian, who has constantly spoken of his love for the club, is already arguably one of the best players to represent Newcastle United in decades.
As such, Guimaraes will likely be in demand going forward. Linked with the likes of Arsenal before his move to St James’ Park, rumours linking him away simply come with the territory of having a player of such stature in the ranks.
To that end, Real Madrid are reportedly keen. Mundo Deportivo claim the 24-year-old is of interest to the Spanish giants, who could soon have to replace Toni Kroos amid reports the German could call an end to his glittering career.

They state that Los Blancos are just one of many leading clubs around the world casting keen eyes over Guimaraes, such has been the level of his form on Tyneside.
Convincing Bruno to leave Newcastle will be difficult
Unlike in years gone by, however, Newcastle have more than a fighting chance of keeping their prized assets.
Clearly, the money pumped in by PIF helps and the Evening Standard have previously claimed Guimaraes could be in line for a bumper £200k-per-week new contract, but that alone would surely not be enough.

Indeed, it is the ambition coursing through the club that stands Newcastle in good stead. In the wake of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat, Amanda Staveley vowed to win every trophy available, underlining the fact that this is merely the start of the journey.
In 2014, Yohan Cabaye left St James’ for PSG in pursuit of more success. While not to play down the allure a club like Real Madrid have, this is simply a different Newcastle. Not only do they have the money to succeed, they have the desire to actively chase it.
For players such as Guimaraes, that will surely be music to the ears.
