PIF bought Newcastle United in October 2021, and are planning to add more clubs to their portfolio to aid the Toon project.
It has long been reported that the Newcastle owners PIF plan to buy more clubs in the future, as they look to emulate the Manchester City model.
Now 90min have provided some fresh information on the Newcastle hierarchy’s plans for further expansion. They state that PIF are likely to buy a club in Europe first. They add that France or Belgium is the most likely destination, with the latter currently the frontrunner.
90min add that the owners want more clubs under their guidance to help build relations across the globe, and to ensure Newcastle have somewhere to send players on loan.
This is a system that Man City use to great effect. Their owners have multiple clubs all over the world in every continent, boasting a global structure that has helped them become a footballing powerhouse.

PIF want the same for Newcastle, and plan to follow in Man City’s footsteps.
PIF really want to take Newcastle to the top
With the owners looking to follow the Man City model and create a portfolio of football clubs to boost the Newcastle United project, it proves that they are serious about taking the Magpies to the top.
Amanda Staveley reaffirmed that message at the weekend after the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United. The Toon co-owner spoke to TalkSPORT at Wembley, and stated that the club will win the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League in the future.
It was quite the vow from Staveley, who is not shy about the consortium’s desire to make Newcastle a global powerhouse.
It is an ongoing project, and steps are being taken every day behind the scenes to keep the club going in an upwards trajectory.
Next on PIF’s is another club, and 90min believe it could be a side in Belgium. If that did happen, they wouldn’t be the only Premier League owners with shares in a club over there. Man City, Leicester City and Brighton have all invested in teams from Belgium.
Now Newcastle could join that list.
