Newcastle United are expected to discuss a new contract with Bruno Guimaraes at the end of the current season.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who believe that the 24-year-old will be offered improved terms by the Magpies in the summer of 2023.

Bruno hasn’t even been with the club for a full year, but has made a huge impression on Tyneside. His latest man of the match display came on Saturday, scoring twice in the 5-1 win over Brentford.

It was an outstanding performance from Bruno, who has helped propel the Magpies into sixth position. His impact at St James’ Park has been transformative – he is the signing that is taking us to the next level.

We are a completely different team when he is on the pitch. For many, he is the best midfielder the club has ever had. He’s certainly the best we’ve had since the Yohan Cabaye days.

Bruno is the future of Newcastle United, and wants to become a club legend. He is already well on the way to doing that, and could soon get a contract extension.

Bruno Guimaraes more than deserving of a new contract

Bruno signed for Newcastle in January, costing an initial £35million. Compared to other deals, he was a bargain.

He signed a four-and-a-half year deal at St James’ Park, meaning his current contract expires in 2026. The Brazil international has plenty of time to run on his deal, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get an extension.

The better he plays, the more he should be rewarded. Bruno is establishing himself as the best and most important player at the club. In that respect, he should be the best paid. And that will likely happen when a new contract comes his way.

Newcastle will slowly be increasing the amount of wages they pay to players. At the moment, they have proven they won’t smash their wage structure and potentially upset the dressing room.

However, it does need to go up eventually, and Bruno is proof of that.

While he is loving his football at the moment, bigger clubs will be circling. There was even speculation over a move to Real Madrid during the summer.

The Toon owners will be desperate to keep Bruno for as long as possible, and that means tying him down to a juicy new contract.

And the Daily Mail believe that is what will happen in the summer of 2023.
