Newcastle United are in the process of securing certain players’ futures at St James’ Park, and Dan Burn could be next in line for a new contract.
That is according to the Chronicle, who state there is talk of Newcastle offering Burn a new deal in the near future.
The Magpies have already tied down Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron to longer contracts, while there is constant speculation that Bruno Guimaraes is going to agree an improved deal. It was recently reported that the club hope to have terms agreed with the Brazilian before the end of the season.
Elsewhere, summer signing Nick Pope could reportedly be rewarded for his fine form with a new contract. That would be a surprise, as he only arrived at St James’ Park last June.
But Newcastle are laying the foundation for their future with these new deals, and Burn could also get the chance to extend his Toon career.

Dan Burn has definitely earned a new Newcastle contract
When Burn joined Newcastle last January, it didn’t turn a lot of heads. He arrived for £13million from Brighton, signing a two-and-a-half year deal with his boyhood club.
There wasn’t a lot of fanfare. He was merely viewed as a steady Premier League player who was getting the chance to play for the team that he has supported all his life.
However, he quickly proved to be a masterful signing by the Magpies. Burn was excellent last season, and has continued to play brilliantly in the current campaign. He has mainly operated at left-back, and has done admirably well away from his preferred position.
The 30-year-old has developed into a real leader at St James’ Park, and a key member of Howe’s squad. That is why he deserves a contract extension, with his current deal due to expire in 2024.
Burn has been reliable ever since his Tyneside return, and knows exactly what it means to wear the black and white stripes of Newcastle United. That makes him even more valuable to Howe, who knows that Burn still has a lot to offer this ongoing Toon project.
