Following the Unai Emery debacle, Newcastle United have now turned their attention to Eddie Howe – and he supposedly wants to bring in his own backroom staff.
The Chronicle are reporting the former Bournemouth manager is keen to land the job.
That is despite now knowing he was not the new owners’ number one choice.
Howe has had some initial contact with Amanda Staveley, and is now apparently hoping for face-to-face talks.
It was reported that Howe did actually interview better than Emery.
Interestingly, the Chronicle report that one of Howe’s demands would be that he gets to bring in his own backroom staff and have ‘familiarity’ around him.
That was something that was reportedly not promised to him when he was going for the Celtic job.
He supposedly wanted Richard Hughes and coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone around him at Parkhead.
As a result, Howe turned that opportunity down.

The Newcastle owners should permit Howe to bring in his own backroom staff.
Time is of the essence now, with Newcastle still winless this season.
Howe has proved himself as a tactician in the Premier League.
If he is to succeed Bruce, it’s important he gets the tools to work most effectively.
If he wants to bring in individuals he has worked with previously, then he should be allowed to do so.
