It would take offers over £100m for Newcastle United to entertain the idea of selling star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to 90min.

Since arriving at St James’ Park in January after the Magpies agreed to a £40m fee for the 24-year-old, Guimaraes has taken the Premier League by storm.
In terms of match ratings, the Brazil international was only topped by Kieran Trippier last season, illustrating his impressively swift adaptation to life in the English top-flight.
As a result, major transfer interest has emerged from some of the biggest clubs across Europe.
During the summer window, Real Madrid reportedly started monitoring the Brazilian’s situation, whilst English giants Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have since been touted with strong interest in the midfielder.
Newcastle will only entertain offers over £100m for Guimaraes
According to 90min’s report, the Magpies would turn down nine-figure offers if interested clubs did choose to make a move for Guimaraes.
Newcastle are not worried by the transfer speculation surrounding the Brazil international, and the Tyneside outfit are already planning to offer the 24-year-old a new long-term deal at St James’ Park.
The report claims the player’s representatives are aware of the interest that has emerged, but the midfielder is refusing to entertain a move away from the north-east.

Howe considers Guimaraes priceless
Having been at the club less than a year, Guimaraes has already established himself as a crucial part of Eddie Howe’s favoured XI.
Aside from a three-game injury stint, the former Lyon man has featured in every Premier League match he’s been available for – demonstrating his manager’s reluctance to drop him.
The Brazil international has helped the side both defensively and offensively, with his varied skillset often on show in the final third in front of goal, and also in his own half when he wins the ball back with a well-timed tackle.
Thus far this season, Guimaraes tops Newcastle’s ranking for tackles made per game, whilst in contrast, he also takes up second place for key passes made going forward, highlighting his additional playmaking role within the team.
Guimaraes remains under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2026, and with an extension to his deal only a matter of when, rather than if, the player seems more than happy at St James’ Park, having emerged as a fan favourite.
Therefore, even if the likes of Real Madrid did make offers in excess of £100m for the Toon midfielder, PIF would almost certainly reject any advancement as they view him as a priceless asset of the club – not that they need the money for him anyway.
Howe is still working on this long-term Tyneside project, and so it is a certainty that Guimaraes will be at the centre of any success going forward.
