AFC Bournemouth may have to ‘consider’ selling their big-named players at the end of this season according to the Daily Mail. This includes defender Lloyd Kelly who has been linked with a move to Newcastle United per The Express. The defender has had a strong campaign, making the Championship ‘Team of the Season‘.

The Cherries will be receiving their final parachute payment from the Premier League since their relegation in 2020. However, the sum will not be as high as in the previous seasons. So Bournemouth may need to sell some of their top players to balance the books financially, unless they can achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

They currently sit in second place but have Nottingham Forest breathing down their necks in the race for automatic promotion. However, they could still go up via winning the play-offs.

Some Newcastle fans will be keeping an eye on Bournemouth’s clash with Nottingham Forest tonight

If for whatever reason you decide not to watch the Champions League semi-final tonight, Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest is on. In a big match which will likely decide who claims the final automatic promotion slot.

Additionally, Newcastle United fans could get a taste of what Lloyd Kelly offers in the Championship. Eddie Howe will have managed Kelly from his days at AFC Bournemouth so it makes sense why the Magpies are linked with him.

The Toon will likely ship off a couple of defenders this summer. If I were to make an educated guess I suspect it would be Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez. Both haven’t featured much under the Magpies boss.

With the promise shown by the £21million man (BristolLive), Howe may decide he wants to integrate Kelly in slowly at first. So he might start as a fringe player, but grow into a potential first-team starter.

The final two games of the Championship could be a big turning point. Should Bournemouth be overtaken by Nottingham Forest they’ll have to go through the play-offs.

With them only winning two of the last seven games, it will be a real challenge for Scott Parker’s side. Failure to land promotion could see Newcastle pounce on the chance to sign Kelly.
