Newcastle United are losing key players at will, but look set to have a fully fit Callum Wilson available this weekend.

The Magpies face a tricky away trip to Fulham on Saturday, where they will look to secure just their second win of the season. And Eddie Howe might have to do that without some of his stars.

Bruno Guimaraes has had an injury scare during the international break, Allan Saint-Maximin isn’t expected to be fit, and now Alexander Isak is ruled out.

The club record signing is set to miss several games, which is a real blow for Newcastle. The Swede, who has been called ‘special‘ by Howe, has scored two goals in his first three Toon games, in what has been a bright start in black and white.

But now Newcastle are set to be without Isak. Luckily, another striker is set to return in his absence.

Wilson fit to start against Fulham

It has previously been reported that Wilson will be back for the game at Craven Cottage. Now the Telegraph state that the 30-year-old should be fit to start against Marco Silva’s side.

That’s a real boost for Newcastle, with Wilson likely to be their only fit striker. Chris Wood is also an injury doubt, having picked up a rib problem whilst playing for New Zealand.

Luckily for Howe, it looks like he will be able to call upon his number nine.

Wilson was enjoying a bright start to the season until injury, scoring two goals in three games. He will hope to build on that tally on his return, as he aims to make it into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

But Newcastle will be more focussed on keeping the striker fit. It would be an absolute disaster if he suffered another setback.

If that were to happen, Howe would have to be creative with his forward options. Joelinton could play through the middle, or he may have to call on someone from the academy.

Wilson’s return is a timely one, and Toon fans will be looking to him to bring goals to a struggling offensive side. Fingers crossed he does that and manages to stay fit.
