Reporter claims Bruno Guimaraes ‘could be involved’ vs Fulham after fresh injury

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has left the Brazil squad due to injury, but could still feature for the Magpies against Fulham.

The 24-year-old returned from a muscle injury against Bournemouth, playing almost 70 minutes against the Cherries. Bruno did well, but it was clear he wasn’t fully fit. That’s why he didn’t finish the game.

His return was a welcome one, but now he appears to have suffered a fresh setback.

Bruno had linked up with the Brazil squad in France, with Tite’s side set for friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia. They played the former on Friday night, but Bruno didn’t feature at all.

This came as no surprise, as it had been reported in Brazil before the game that he was unlikely to feature due to an injury problem.

Now that injury problem has resulted in him leaving the Brazil squad and returning to Tyneside. However, it’s not all bad news for the Magpies.

Craig Hope provides encouraging Bruno Guimaraes injury update

News of another injury problem has Newcastle supporters panicking, but the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided reason for optimism.

He tweeted: “The word again this morning is that Bruno’s problem is not too serious and there is a chance he could be involved at the weekend.”

According to Hope, there is a chance that Bruno could still feature against Fulham. However, it certainly isn’t guaranteed.

If he’s fit enough to play any part, Eddie Howe will surely be tempted to start him and bring him off early like he did against Bournemouth.

But if there’s a chance that he could aggravate the injury, it might be best if he misses out completely.

Newcastle are desperate for a win at the moment, but are in the midst of an injury crisis. Key players are out of action, while the international break hasn’t been kind.

Howe will be eager to put out a full strength team as soon as possible. His squad is stretched at the moment, with fringe players failing to deliver.

But Bruno is the biggest miss, and hopefully this injury problem doesn’t force him to miss Saturday’s game at Fulham.
