Newcastle United will be the underdogs against Arsenal on Saturday, but William Saliba is under no illusions about how good the Magpies are.
Arsenal head to St James’ Park as they look to continue their Premier League title bid, and Eddie Howe believes that the Gunners will arrive as a better team than they were last season.
That is slightly concerning, as they were very good last season as they came second behind Manchester City. On their last visit to St James’ Park, they produced an incredibly professional performance and beat Newcastle 2-0.
They will be hoping for a repeat display, while the Magpies will be aiming to make the most of their home advantage. The SJP crowd can make such a difference, and Mikel Arteta will be keen to ensure his side rise to the occasion in what can be a difficult arena to play football in.
It looks poised to be a wonderful game between two very strong sides. Arsenal will go in as favourites, but they are certainly not overconfident based on William Saliba‘s latest comments about the Magpies.

William Saliba full of praise for Newcastle
Ahead of the game between Newcastle and Arsenal, Saliba has spoke to the Gunners’ official website. He heaped praise on Eddie Howe’s side, complimenting them on their physicality and use of the ball.
“We know St. James’ Park is a really tough place to play,” he said.
“We saw in the Champions League against PSG that Newcastle are so good at home because they have such a good atmosphere.
“It’s a really physical team and they are so good with the ball as well, so we expect a tough battle.”
Arsenal aren’t going to underestimate Newcastle
They might be the favourites, but Arsenal are not going to underestimate Newcastle. They are a team that is massively on the up, not a club that is living off past glories like Man United.
But Newcastle know that they can get a result. They have proven themselves against the best this season, particularly at home.
Saliba knows all about that, having admitted to watching the 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last month.
PSG could not handle Newcastle’s physicality, and Arsenal will need to be much tougher than the Ligue 1 side were. If not, Eddie Howe’s side will dominate.
