Footballing legend Fabio Capello has praised Newcastle United, claiming that Eddie Howe’s side will be difficult to beat and will be a threat to Manchester City this season.
Newcastle have had a tough start to the campaign, winning just one of their opening four games, having faced sides competing in Europe in all of their games so far.
However, Capello, who managed England, Real Madrid and AC Milan among others, has claimed that Newcastle will be one of the teams to look out for at the top end of the table.
In quotes via TNT Sports, Capello claimed that Man City will find it more difficult to win the Premier League and Champions League again this season because other teams are looking strong.
“I think this year will be difficult for Manchester City to win the Champions League another time and also the Premier League, because a lot of the teams are really strong,” Capello stated.
“I think Arsenal, Manchester United and also Newcastle United will be difficult in every league game and in the Champions League.”
Newcastle’s tough start
After the jubilant scenes at the end of last season, there has been some dismay that despite a productive transfer window, Newcastle have disappointed so far in terms of results.
The opening day thrashing of Aston Villa was followed by defeats to Man City, Liverpool and Brighton, with the Liverpool defeat particularly frustrating given that Newcastle were leading against 10 men.

Although Newcastle have a tough Champions League group with fixtures set to commence soon, the league fixtures are set to become easier on paper, with games against newly promoted Sheffield United and Burnley coming up in the next month.
Whilst Newcastle have not been at their best, they can still challenge at the top end of the table, and can put down the poor form to the difficulty of their fixtures, but results do need to improve very soon.
