As Newcastle United fell to a deserved defeat at Brighton the Toon Army inside the American Express Stadium never relented.

It’s always an aim on Geordie Boot Boys to try and be positive even in the face of such a disgraceful defeat, so here we are shining a light on the true heroes today – Newcastle‘s travelling Toon Army.

The fans that made the longest journey in the Premier League down to Brighton only to see that shocking performance and a 3-1 defeat, but they never let the side down, they kept on singing right until that final whistle put us all out of our misery.

Sky Sports journo praised the Newcastle fans as ‘rare’

Our travelling support was so loud, and so brilliant that Sky Sports journalist Lewis Jones couldn’t help but comment on it saying: “It’s a rare you see an away end so jubilant at the full-time whistle after such a dispiriting performance but the Geordie boys remained in party mood. Tops off, they didn’t stop signing from the moment their team fell 3-0 behind. Three defeats on the spin, but there’s not even a whiff of discontent with the direction the club are heading in. Credit to them.”

There is still belief amongst the fanbase, that’s for sure. It’s been a tough run of three defeats with tonight’s being by far the hardest one to take simply because the entire team failed to turn up.

But we have to remember that we’ve still got 34 games to go, we’re still in three cup competitions one of which kicks off with a trip to Milan later this month.

There’s a long way to go yet for Eddie Howe to get it right

There’s still a lot to look forward to, and we’ve still got some new players who haven’t really had the chance to make an impact yet.

As dire as this performance was today, and let’s not sugarcoat it, it was dire, we still have plenty of time to get it right. We were never going to replicate the feats of last season with the kind of pressure we’re under now from expectant fans, more media scrutiny and a Champions League adventure ahead.

Keep the faith in Eddie Howe, keep the faith in the lads. We’ll be back soon!
