Speaking on the latest episode of the Stick To Football podcast, Carragher and Neville have given their verdict on what will happen at St James’ Park between Newcastle United and Man City.

Carragher: “I think if City win this, it puts big pressure on Arsenal going into that game the next day. You’ll all be a bit nervous going into that stadium.”

Neville: “I’m not sure City win.”

Carragher: “What do we want for the Premier League? We want City to win so it juices up Sunday for us.”

Neville: “We’ll go 2-1 City.”

Understandably, Manchester City are the favourites for Saturday’s game. They are playing very well, while Erling Haaland is unstoppable right now.

The Toon Army will not go into the game expecting victory, but they will expect an improved performance.

Regardless, a defeat will result in more pressure on Tyneside. That is simply because of the fixtures that are on the horizon, with two away games in less than a week.

Newcastle United face Marseille in the Champions League on Tuesday night, while they travel to Everton the following Saturday. That is a massive match, as the Magpies aim to pick up their first away win in the Premier League this season.

If they aren’t victorious there, that record will still stand when Eddie Howe takes his side to Sunderland for the Tyne-Wear derby on 14th December.
