Eddie Howe is working tirelessly to get Newcastle United out of this slump.

It has been a tough international break for Newcastle United, who have not had the chance to rewrite the wrongs of their Premier League form.

Consecutive defeats to West Ham and Brentford have seen them drop down to 14th in the table, with Newcastle under severe pressure to improve.

However, Eddie Howe’s job is not under pressure. He is the man to sort out Newcastle United’s problems, and he has been working hard to find the solution during the international break.

‘Calm’ Eddie Howe is implementing change at Newcastle United

While Howe said he wanted another game immediately after losing to Brentford, the break has come at a good time. It has allowed the Newcastle United manager to implement something of a reset, as he aims to re-energise a squad that is capable of so much more.

According to the Athletic, Howe has been ‘calm and resolute’ behind the scenes despite the talk of pressure, while there is also an acceptance that the international break was well-timed.

They report that Howe has come up with a new plan to change Newcastle’s fortunes, having analysed their previous games.

The Athletic add that work has been done to improve fitness, with some players suffering from a lack of intense training amid a gruelling fixture list.

New Newcastle United already face an uphill battle

There was no doubt that Howe would have been working on a new plan to fix Newcastle United’s problems during the international break.

It will be interesting to see if there are any noticeable changes when they return to action, but the Magpies are already going to be up against it despite this reset.

They entertain Manchester City at St James’ Park on Saturday, with Pep Guardiola’s side in excellent form as they head to Tyneside. They have won 11 of their last 14 games in all competitions, which is a record that should worry Newcastle.

On top of that, Erling Haaland continued his great form during the international break.

While work has been done to change Newcastle United’s fortunes, the fact it is Man City up next limits the prospect of immediate improvement.
