Predicted Newcastle XI to face Liverpool as Eddie Howe makes Alexander Iask decision and drops £25m player

Newcastle United are not going to be without Alexander Isak against Liverpool.

That has been the big concern heading into Wednesday night’s game at St James’ Park, after Alexander Isak suffered an injury against Crystal Palace.

However, it was not a muscle injury for Alexander Isak, who insists he will be available for selection to face Premier League leaders Liverpool.

But even with Isak in the side, Newcastle are predicted to lose against Liverpool. The Magpies have been uninspiring since the return of domestic football, and now face the unenviable task of taking on Arne Slot’s side.

Eddie Howe’s men are going to be up against it, and this is Geordie Boot Boys’ predicted Newcastle United XI to face Liverpool.

One change in midfield for Newcastle

Newcastle changed their midfield on Saturday, with Sandro Tonali coming into the starting XI.

It proved to be the correct decision, with the 24-year-old playing very well as Newcastle’s number six.

Tonali looked more suited to the role than Bruno Guimaraes, and Howe must persist with the midfield maestro from Milano.

But we do anticipate one change to the Toon midfield, with Sean Longstaff replacing Joe Willock.

This is the kind of game that suits Longstaff, with his work off the ball likely to be pivotal. As for Willock, he has not impressed during Newcastle’s previous two games, which could result in the £25million man dropping to the bench.

Joelinton on the left against Liverpool

Joelinton started on the left wing against Crystal Palace, and that is where he should remain on Wednesday night.

With Mo Salah set to start on the right for Liverpool, Lewis Hall will need all the help he can get. That is why he needs Joelinton in front of him, despite Anthony Gordon preferring to play on that side.

Instead, Gordon will be on the right, as he takes on Liverpool for the first time after they tried to sign him over the summer.

Alexander Isak will lead the line, and will hopefully be fit enough to last longer than the 22 minutes he played against Crystal Palace.

Predicted Newcastle XI vs Liverpool: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Tonali, Bruno; Gordon, Isak, Joelinton.
