Santiago Munoz has finally arrived in Newcastle after his summer move.

The striker was signed by the club on transfer deadline day, agreeing an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy.

However, it has taken him three weeks to actually appear in the North East.

There’s a lot of excitement around Munoz’s signing, simply because his name is almost identical to the lead character from ‘Goal!’.

And just like in the film franchise, the player has gone to Madrid.

But while in the films, Munez signs for Real because he’s so good at Newcastle, Munoz has simply been following travel regulations.

After joining Newcastle the teenager headed to Spain, where he completed a 10-day quarantine period amid the ongoing global pandemic.

But Munoz is finally in the country, and has been pictured in the North East. Unfortunately, Anna Friel and Stephen Dillane weren’t in attendance.

Newcastle post photo of Santiago Munoz watching Under-23 clash

Newcastle Under-23s faced Stoke last night, and the new signing was in attendance at Whitley Park.

Sadly, he saw his new teammates lose 3-2 to the Potters. Elliot Anderson had put the Magpies ahead from the spot, but they went on to squander their lead.

Adam Wilson netted a second for Newcastle, but it was too little too late.

Hopefully it won’t take Munoz long to settle in at the club, and we can see him playing for the Under-23s sooner rather than later.

We’re all very excited to see what he’s about, and find out whether or not he could be a future star at St James’ Park. Here’s hoping…
