Newcastle United have released official training pictures ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Ham, and they include teenager Lewis Miley.

The 16-year-old can be seen working alongside the rest of Eddie Howe’s team, as they prepare for a tricky fixture at the London Stadium.

But it’s a surprise to see Miley feature, especially given how young he is. He was involved with the Magpies’ Under-18s side during the week, scoring twice in a 4-2 victory over Arsenal. The youngster also made his Under-21s debut in the recent Papa John’s Trophy clash with Doncaster.

Now Miley is training with the first-team, which is a real testament to his ability. He was briefly involved over pre-season and was on the bench for Newcastle’s friendly double header against Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao.

Miley is the youngest player taking part by the looks of things, but there are other academy lads involved. Remi Savage, Joe White and Jay Turner-Cooke are also pictured.

However, two major names are conspicuous by their absence.

No Bruno or ASM in Newcastle first-team training pictures

Bruno Guimaraes and Allan Saint-Maximin have not been pictured in Newcastle training. That is certainly a blow heading into the weekend.

Howe claimed last week that they were close to facing Crystal Palace. However, neither being spotted in training hardly suggests they will be involved this weekend.

Bruno was coy on a possible return when asked earlier in the week, while Saint-Maximin has been seen putting in the work via updates from his official Instagram.

Hopefully we see at least one of Bruno or Saint-Maximin involved against West Ham. Even if just one of them is on the bench it will be a welcome boost.

With these pictures coming from Wednesday’s session, there is still time for them to possibly return before Sunday’s trip to the London Stadium. However, this midweek update doesn’t look too positive.
