So much has been made about the relationship between Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe at Newcastle United.
The appointment of the sporting director earlier this summer threatened to rock the boat at Newcastle. Indeed, Mitchell is understood to have upset people behind the scenes with some of his comments about the club’s transfer business before his arrival.
Appointed by PIF without Howe’s approval following Dan Ashworth’s departure, there were reportedly tensions between the two at St James’ Park.
Still, it seems things have settled since. Mitchell was recently praising the Newcastle United manager, with the relationship said to have improved.
Despite a difficult start to the season after an underwhelming transfer window, Howe is believed to retain the support of the Newcastle United owners and, thankfully, it looks rather settled once more.
In fact, Mitchell recently gave his view on Newcastle’s style of play under Howe.

Paul Mitchell is looking to prove something to Eddie Howe at Newcastle
Mitchell’s positive comments follow on from recent reports from The Athletic.
They suggest Mitchell will not interfere on the coaching pitch in an effort to try and prove to the head coach that he trusts him.
Whether Howe needs that, of course, is up for debate.
Still, it’s another positive development after what looked a difficult start to the relationship.
Clearly, its likely to be tested again over the next few transfer windows – the first of which reportedly won’t see a huge amount of spending – but things do appear to be on the up again.
Things are starting to look positive for Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell at Newcastle.
