Newcastle United are back in Premier League action on Saturday night.

Just days after a dramatic draw away at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Manchester United are in town as the relentless schedule continues.

It seems Eddie Howe is unlikely to have many players back from injury for the visit of the Red Devils to St James’ Park, albeit Newcastle have recently disposed of Saturday’s opponents while relying on the likes of back-up options in the form of Paul Dummett and Emil Krafth.

Howe’s side have already beaten Manchester City, PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea at home this season, so there should be little reason to fear even despite the absentee list.

Still, even despite so much talk of a crisis, Erik ten Hag’s side are one of the Premier League’s form teams.

Closing in on matchday, the predictions have started.

Newcastle vs Man United: Paul Merson makes prediction

Indeed, pundit Paul Merson has given his view on the upcoming game and predicted a 3-1 win for the Magpies.

He told SportsKeeda: “I don’t see Manchester United toughing it out against Newcastle United. Manchester United are more ruthless than Chelsea but the Magpies were excellent last weekend and I’d be shocked if they don’t win this week.”

Newcastle vs Man United: Another huge game for Eddie Howe

For a club with the ambitions of Newcastle United these days, every game feels like a huge one.

Still, there is something about this fixture in particular. An iconic game in years gone by, it’ll be fascinating to see how Howe’s side react to the controversy of the last few minutes in Paris on Tuesday night.

If they can raise their game again and beat a Manchester United side in decent domestic form at least, it will be another example of their never-say-die attitude.

Hopefully, Merson is right…
