Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has claimed that Newcastle United’s January transfer target Dominic Solanke works harder than any striker in the Premier League.

The Magpies were linked with a move for the Cherries star in the January transfer window, and the Telegraph claimed that Eddie Howe remains a ‘big fan’ of the man he signed from Liverpool for around £19m in January 2019.

The 24-year-old has been in tremendous form this season as he spearheads Bournemouth’s charge to Premier League promotion.

Solanke has 23 goals and six assists from 36 Championship games this season, only Fulham’s Serbian superstar and former Toon striker Aleksandar Mitrovic (35) has scored more than the one-time England international.

But it’s testament to the Cherries’ number nine’s fitness levels that he has started every Championship match this season.

According to DorsetLive, Solanke tops the Bournemouth running statistics in most matches, averaging a distance upwards of 12 kilometres per 90 minutes.

Alongside his impressive goalscoring form which currently sees him averaging a goal in every other game in the Championship with 38 goals from 76 matches, Solanke has been praised by Parker for his tireless running.

Speaking via DorsetLive on Solanke, Parker said: “His goals are there for everyone to see. He is pivotal for us in that sense. He can put the ball in the net. He is always at the end of things when we want to finish and put the ball in the net. And he does that.

“But his all-round game. He’s the target in terms of a platform for us when we have to go long a little bit.

“His work ethic – I don’t think there’s a nine out there, to be honest with you, and I include the Premier League, who puts in the numbers and puts in the graft and the work in games that Dom does.

“He was incredible.”

With Callum Wilson’s injury issues showing no signs of easing, PIF are likely to bolster Howe’s striker options with high-profile reinforcements in the summer window.

Bournemouth, who sit second in the Championship, six points off third-placed Luton Town with two games in hand, are likely to be expecting enquiries into Solanke’s availability given his impressive numbers this season.

Despite failing to crack the Premier League with just four goals from 63 matches, Dominic Solanke will be desperate to transfer his Championship form over to the top-flight.

It could well be that Howe asks PIF to break the bank so he is reunited with his former striker next season.
