Nobby Solano believes that one Newcastle United player can become a ‘superstar’ at the club

Nobby Solano has made a bold prediction about one Newcastle United player who he has been very impressed with over the last few weeks.

Solano himself is an icon in Newcastle, and he is now predicting that Lewis Miley can go down a similar path and be a hero for the Geordies in the future.

Solano was speaking about Miley on talkSPORT with Ally McCoist and said that if he can add consistency into his game for the long-term, then there’s nothing to stop him from becoming a superstar.

Solano says Miley can be a legend for the Magpies

Nobody is questioning whether or not Miley has the talent or ability to excel at Newcastle or anywhere else in the Premier League, but talent can only get you so far.

The very best players in football have this incredible mental strength to keep going and keep pushing themselves harder no matter how difficult it may be, and it’s why they’re always at the top.

Solano is now suggesting that Miley, while impressive in the handful of games he’s starred in, has to add that consistency to his game and develop a tough mental attitude before becoming a star at Newcastle.

On talkSPORT, McCoist said: “I want to ask you, obviously a victory over Fulham at the weekend, tell me a little bit about what you think about Lewis Miley.

“He came off the bench and scored, I mean 17 years of age, I’ve watched him a good few times and clearly he’s a very talented player, but what when people have been asking me about him, what I can’t believe watching is his actual game knowledge for a 17-year-old.

“Parts of the game that you wouldn’t expect him to [have] at that level, he’s just so intelligent.”

Solano: “You said one right thing, when you’re 17, you’re already playing in the Premier League because you’ve already got something in there.

“Your talent, your knowledge is there and the reason is Eddie putting him into the team. Now what’s coming for him is the more important thing in his life, in his profession is the consistency.

“I hope so as he’s shown already to get into this team, to get the opportunity to play now in the Premier League for a very important club, so I’m expecting they have the next superstar in the club.”

Miley is going to be key in the next few weeks

While Eddie Howe won’t want to have to depend on the 17-year-old in the next few weeks, he may have no choice if the injury list continues to pile up like it has done in the last couple of months.

Miley was finally given a break against Fulham with the return of Sean Longstaff to full fitness, but Joelinton’s injury means that Miley will again have to play a part against Chelsea and Luton at least.

If nothing else, this stretch of games will show Howe if Miley has the mental strength to deal with the pressure and, as Solano suggests, if he can keep a consistent run of form for Newcastle.

If he comes out of this busy period still on top form then Newcastle will know what an absolute gem they have on their hands.
