Two Newcastle United players are now set to miss tonight’s game against Chelsea and Saturday’s game against Luton as the injury crisis continues.

Both Joelinton and Fabian Schar were forced off in the first half of Newcastle’s 3-0 victory against Fulham and it now looks like the pair will be unavailable for at least the next week.

A report from the iPaper claims that the duo will not be included in tonight’s squad at Stamford Bridge and also won’t feature in the trip to Kennilworth Road on Saturday.

Newcastle get good news and bad news on the injury front

It was a positive start to the day on Saturday for Newcastle as it looked like they were finally starting to get some depth back into the team with Sven Botman making his return as well as Dan Burn who started his first game since early November.

However, as the day went on, Eddie Howe was not so lucky as two more players were added to Newcastle’s injury list and will now not feature against Chelsea or Luton.

It looks to be one in one out for Newcastle every week – as soon as Botman returns, Schar gets injured and just as Callum Wilson comes back into the fold Alexander Isak is now struggling again.

The crisis at the club seems to be never-ending, but Newcastle don’t have time to feel sorry for themselves and those players who are still fit enough simply have to find whatever energy is left to get through this hectic period.

Big blow for games against Chelsea and Luton

In a difficult period where Newcastle are looking to get their season back on track after a Champions League exit and tough defeats in the Premier League, the last thing they want to deal with is more injuries.

This is especially true with their next two games being away from home where they have seriously struggled this season, only managing a victory twice in games against Sheffield United and Man United.

Chelsea and Luton are very different to the teams that they have faced recently and both are currently struggling in their own way, but Newcastle cannot take either team for granted at this stage of the season.
