Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope has now recorded his 50th clean sheet in the Premier League thanks to the 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
The Toon stopper kept Man United at bay, ensuring that his side were able to put another point on the board. It was an important result for Eddie Howe’s side, and Pope will have been delighted to keep a clean sheet.
And he will be even more delighted as it means he has achieved a personal milestone.
The 30-year-old made his Premier League debut back in September 2017 for Burnley. Just over five years on and he has kept 50 clean sheets in the top flight of English football.
That’s more than Thibaut Courtois (48) managed in the Premier League, and it’s also more than Martin Dubravka currently has (37).
It’s a fantastic achievement from Pope, especially when you consider how many times he has appeared in the Premier League. Sunday’s game at Old Trafford was his 151st top flight appearance. That means he averages a clean sheet every three games.
Pope boasts a wonderful record, and he has taken to Instagram to celebrate.

After the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, Pope sent a message to fans via his official Instagram account.
He wrote: “Good point on the board, important week ahead. On a personal note delighted to reach 150 premier league appearances and 50 clean sheets. HWTL.”
Pope’s post inspired a plethora of messages from his Toon teammates, who were quick to congratulate him.
Sven Botman wrote: “Hell of stats big man, be proud.”
Bruno Guimaraes added: “Well done Nick Pope.”
There were also replies from Kieran Trippier, Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy. Meanwhile former teammates Joe Hart and Ashley Barnes also showed their appreciation for Pope.
His 50th clean sheet was an important one, as it earned Newcastle a vital point on Sunday. And it was his fourth since joining the Magpies in the summer. He cost £10million from Burnley, and is proving to be an exceptional addition.
Pope is currently one of the best stoppers in the Premier League, and will likely be going to the World Cup this winter with England.
But before then, he will be keen to continue his good form with Newcastle, starting on Wednesday night against Everton. Manager Eddie Howe will hope his goalkeeper can get his 51st Premier League sheet at the Toffees’ expense.
