According to the Telegraph, Newcastle believe they are close to re-signing Joe Willock from Arsenal on loan. The report adds that the Magpies are also interested in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
With no first-team signings so far, it looks like Newcastle are finally springing into life in the transfer market…in typical Toon fashion.
Until the takeover is sorted, it looks like loan deals and an episode of Bargain Hunt at St James’ Park.
But that doesn’t mean these two potential deals wouldn’t be good for the Magpies.

Willock was immense last season, and bringing him back to the club is a must – even if it is on loan.
The interesting name is Gallagher, however.
Newcastle were linked with him earlier in the summer, but it was claimed that he wanted to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge. Gallagher was also linked with a move to Crystal Palace, but this was before they appointed Patrick Vieira.
Despite suffering relegation, the youngster enjoyed a decent loan spell at West Brom last season.
Gallagher brought great energy to the Baggies’ midfield, and was combative in the middle of the park.

Midfield was often a problem position for Newcastle last season.
That’s why some fans are very excited about the prospect of signing Willock and Gallagher on loan. Some supporters are even dreaming of a midfield trio of Willock-Hayden-Gallagher.
That could become a reality if we get both deals over the line.
