Influential Newcastle United man Kieran Trippier has shared footage of him stepping up his injury recovery in Dubai.

The 31-year-old hasn’t played since coming off in the 1-0 win against Aston Villa last month in which Trippier’s free-kick proved to be the winner.

The former Atletico Madrid man fractured his foot in the win against Steven Gerrard’s side and has missed the last six Premier League games.

However, Trippier, who is unbeaten in his four top-flight games for the Magpies, shared an Instagram story earlier today of him on a stationery bike with the caption: ‘Stepping training up. Can’t wait to be back’.

The protective boot is no more and it signals a massive step forward in Trippier’s road to recovery.

Eddie Howe’s side have picked up 10 points from a possible 18 in Trippier’s absence. We are currently nine points above the relegation zone.

Trippier’s quality and leadership on the pitch has been a big miss for the Toon Army, and his return will be a massive boost for the closing stages of the season.

After back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Everton, the warm weather training in the Middle East is a welcome break for Howe’s side and it gives both Trippier and Callum Wilson time to step up their returns.

According to the Telegraph, the Newcastle duo will hopefully return before the end of April. In fact, both players are targeting the Crystal Palace game to make their comebacks which takes place on 20 April.

Prior to the clash against the FA Cup semi-finalists, Howe’s men face Tottenham, Wolves and Leicester, all of which we lost against in the reverse clashes.

Howe will be hoping the international break has come at a good time for his side and they can start another unbeaten run when we travel to Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

But Kieran Trippier’s progress out in Dubai will be a massive boost and will radiate positivity throughout Newcastle United.
