The race for a Champions League place will go to the final day of the Premier League season for Newcastle United.
It was a disappointing final away trip of the campaign for Newcastle United, who missed several good chances as they were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal on Sunday.
Declan Rice’s second-half strike was the difference after Anthony Gordon gave the ball away, meaning Eddie Howe’s side missed the chance to go second in the table and secure a Champions League spot.
Instead, the race to book a place in Europe’s top competition will go down to the final day.
Champions Liverpool and Arsenal have sealed their spots, but five teams are still competing to finish the season in the top five.
Here’s how the competing sides’ remaining game looks on what is set to be a dramatic final day.

Premier League final day fixtures
Manchester City still have two games remaining following their losing effort in the FA Cup final but Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have just one game to go.
Here’s how the fixtures compare:
| Newcastle United | Chelsea | Manchester City | Aston Villa | Nottingham Forest |
| Bournemouth (H) | ||||
| Everton (H) | Nottingham Forest (A) | Fulham (A) | Manchester United (A) | Chelsea (H) |
How Newcastle United’s fixtures compare with top five rivals
Newcastle currently sit in third place in the table but have no breathing space as they are only above Chelsea and Aston Villa on goal difference.
Manchester City could leapfrog them if they win or draw against Bournemouth on Wednesday, too, meaning there is no room for error on the final day.
Newcastle will be happy to be playing at what is bound to be a boisterous St. James’ Park when they face Everton, in a favourable final game after a recent difficult run.

City might struggle against a talented Bournemouth and have a potentially tricky trip to Fulham on the final day, though, Aston Villa will be confident of defeating a hapless Manchester United, who will have just played the Europa League final on Wednesday.
The biggest fixture on the final day will be Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea, which could be a straight shoot-out with the winner earning a Champions League place.
It will be a tense final day for Newcastle but they know that a victory will be enough to secure their spot.
