Newcastle United are not getting a lot right at the moment, both on and off the pitch.
Off the pitch, Newcastle United are struggling in the transfer market. James Trafford could join Manchester City, while the Alexander Isak speculation is relentless.
There is a lot of frustration from the Toon Army, who saw their team get battered on Saturday. Newcastle lost 4-0 to Celtic in a friendly, as Eddie Howe’s side were hit with a dose of reality in their first proper pre-season game of the summer.
New Newcastle United graphic mocked by county cricket club
As well as watching their side lose, Newcastle United fans were treated to some new matchday graphics that have not gone down well.
At half-time, Newcastle United’s social media team released an image of Kieran Trippier next to the words ‘two nil’ rather than 2-0. At full-time, it was a picture of Dan Burn and the words ‘four nil’ rather than 4-0.
The use of letters rather than numbers is a strange design choice by Newcastle United, and they have randomly been mocked for it by Sussex County Cricket Club.
During their game against Gloucestershire on Sunday, they shared an image that read ‘one hundred and eighty nine for six’, representing the score 189-6.
Alongside the image, Sussex County Cricket club wrote: “What do you think, NUFC?”
Not only are Newcastle struggling on and off the pitch, now they are being trolled by a cricket club from the opposite end of the country!
When is Newcastle United’s next pre-season friendly?
Newcastle United fans will discover on Sunday if the new matchday graphics are going to remain in place.
That is because the Magpies’ next pre-season friendly is on Sunday, 27th July. Eddie Howe’s side are travelling to Singapore where they will face Arsenal.

It is another tough task for Newcastle United, who have given themselves some very difficult pre-season fixtures ahead of what is going to be a challenging campaign.
Perhaps the new matchday graphics will be more palatable for supporters if they showcase a Newcastle win. However, it could be difficult to put that theory to the test on Sunday with Arsenal up next. That is despite Newcastle beating them three times in all competitions last season.
