Newcastle United have sent a number of talented young players out on loan for the 2025/26 campaign in an effort to get them more experience in the professional game.
It has not been uncommon for Eddie Howe to approve loan moves for his young stars. Fans saw several young talents move away from the club to teams in the EFL last season.
Now, there are three players currently out on loan, with one being Antonio Cordero, who moved to Belgian Pro League side K.V.C Westerlo. Cordero made his Westerlo debut earlier in August, coming on as a late substitute.
Elsewhere, Joe White was loaned to League One side Leyton Orient, featuring in some of their opening games of the season.
It remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old will have a future on Tyneside, as reports suggested that White could leave Newcastle permanently this summer. His contract runs out in 2027, so he still has time to prove that he can play at a high level.
Elsewhere, young goalkeeper Aidan Harris completed a loan move to Northern Ireland Premiership side Coleraine FC, where he has been thrown straight into the starting XI.

Aidan Harris impresses in first appearances away from Newcastle United
Harris was part of Newcastle’s Under-19s squad that played teams like AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Youth League in 2023 when he was just 16 years old. Now 18, Harris is finally getting a taste of professional football in Northern Ireland.
The shot-stopper made his debut against Larne FC, a club who have a strategic partnership with Newcastle. He made just one save and appeared to be barely challenged as Coleraine picked up a 1-0 win.
On Saturday, Harris was named between the sticks for a second successive game, this time helping his new side to a goalless draw against Cliftonville.
Harris will once again have the opportunity to impress as Coleraine take on Dungannon Swifts, who are currently bottom of the league.
Newcastle’s academy is now brimming with young talent, and there could still be players who get loan moves before the transfer window closes.
Aidan Harris could find a way into Newcastle United’s first-team picture next year
Harris is yet to make a professional appearance for Newcastle, but it could come sooner than expected if his loan move turns out to be a major success.
The goalkeeper was a big part of Newcastle’s youth setup last season, playing for the Under-21s for the majority of the campaign, a step above where he is expected to be. Harris even got the chance to train with Newcastle’s first-team squad in May, just before the end of the Premier League season.
Harris’ form helped the Young Magpies reach the Premier League 2’s playoff stage, although they lost in their first game.
Additionally, Harris played all three of Newcastle’s games in the EFL Trophy, playing against Football League sides like Bradford, Rotherham and Mansfield Town.
Newcastle’s goalkeeping department is currently stacked with quality, but the likes of Mark Gillespie and John Ruddy have deals which run out at the end of the season, so Harris could take their place if one of them decides to leave.
